NDDC Chairman, Ebie mourns Cairo Ojougboh, encourages his family to be consoled by sterling legacies left behind.

Chairman, Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Chiedu Ebie, has expressed sadness over the sudden demise of the Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, a former member of the House of Representatives, and one time Executive Director, Projects, NDDC.

The NDDC Chairman stated this on Thursday via a condolence message where he condoled with the immediate family of the late politician in particular and Ika nation in general.

According to him, the unexpected passage of Dr. Ojougboh who reportedly slumped and died while watching the semi-final clash between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday, was not only a colossal lose to his immediate family but an irreparable lose to the entire Ika nation and Nigeria as a whole.

He described the late Alihami, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State born politician as a foremost Niger Deltan whose quest for both human and infrastructural development of the region was not only impressive but exemplary.

In his words, the late Dr. Ojougboh was outspoken and courageous who many in Ika nation looked up to.

While he condoled with the immediate family for the unfortunate incident, Mr. Ebie admonished all to be consoled by the legacies that the late politician left behind.

As a mark of respect for Dr. Ojougboh, the board of NDDC during their board meeting on Thursday, 8th February, 2024 observed a one minute silence in his honour and memory and prayed for the repose of his soul.

He called on political and socio-cultural groups that he spent his time on earth serving to support the family in this trying moment as well as find creative ways to have the departed politician immortalized.
