NEPC workshop empowers Nigerian exporters for China trade

In a proactive move aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s export potential and strengthening trade relations with China, the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has organized a one-day sensitization workshop on the General Administration of Chinese Customs (GACC) in Jos, Plateau State’s capital.

The workshop, attended by exporters, potential exporters, representatives of both public , private sectors., and industry professionals, aimed to provide crucial insights into navigating the complexities of exporting to China.

In his welcome address, the Regional Coordinator read by Mr. Peter Njoku, Deputy Director of the Market Access Department at NEPC, highlighted the council’s commitment to facilitating trade and empowering exporters. He emphasized the importance of understanding GACC requirements to ensure successful trade with China.

He stated: “Today’s workshop underscores our commitment to equipping our exporters and stakeholders with the necessary knowledge and tools to navigate the complexities of international trade, particularly with one of our key trading partners, China. Understanding the requirements set forth by the General Administration of Chinese Customs (GACC) is crucial for Nigerian exporters to ensure smooth and successful trade with China.”

Representing the Executive Director/CEO of NEPC, Mrs. Nonye Ayeni, Mr. Samson A.Idowu, Regional Coordinator( North-Central Region) reiterated the Council’s dedication to promoting Made-in-Nigeria products globally.

“The NEPC plays a pivotal role in championing Nigerian exporters and ensuring their products meet international standards” he said.He emphasized the need for exporters to adhere to GACC procedures diligently.

In his words “The General Administration of Chinese Customs (GACC) sets forth stringent requirements for exporting to China,understanding the registration process, documentation, and regulatory changes is paramount for successful exports.

“The NEPC’s accreditation as the competent authority for GACC in Nigeria underscores our dedication to promoting Made-in-Nigeria products on the global stage,” Mr.Idowu emphasized

In his goodwill message, Hon. Sule Musa Haruna, Commissioner of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Plateau State, represented by Director of Commerce, Mrs Ari commended NEPC for its efforts in enhancing Nigeria’s non-oil exports. He emphasized the importance of events like the workshop in empowering Nigerian exporters to thrive in the global market.

During the technical season, Mr. Emmanuel Ewewie, a schedule officer provided a detailed presentation on GACC regulations, emphasizing the importance of compliance to avoid disruptions in exports and maintain the quality of Nigerian products.

The NEPC workshop served as a platform to equip exporters with the tools needed to succeed in the Chinese market, focusing on compliance, quality and market access to boost Nigeria’s export earnings.
