Nigerian Army is being repositioned to defeat bandits, insurgents, kidnappers – COAS

ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi-

The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, has stated that he is repositioning the Nigerian Army to enable it defeat all adversaries confronting the country.

He stated this in his speech while commissioning three blocks of classrooms built by the Nigerian Army Civil Military Relations as part of its corporate social responsibility at the Ungwan Borno Primary School, Bauchi.

COAS Atahiru, who was represented by Major General M.H. Magaji, said that the Nigerian Army under his leadership is determined to achieve the feat in collaboration with the citizens, adding that the Army is fully aware of the high level of cooperation and goodwill they enjoy from the civil populace across the Nation and Bauchi in particular.

He said: “The Nigerian Army has, over the years, taken deliberate steps to ensure that it gives back to the society in the areas of social responsibility. This is very much in my vision which is to have a Nigerian Army that is repositioned to professionally defeat all adversaries in a joint environment”.

“I have also ensured that we pay very close attention to the non-kinetic aspect of our military operations. The need to make sure that we have a good and cordial relationship with the civil populace and host Community where we conduct our military operations cannot be overemphasized”.

“This close cordial relationship necessitated this school project which is very much in line with the civil military civil cooperation drive of the Nigerian Army to bridge the gap between the civil populace and Nigerian Army thereby, enhancing the positive image of the Nigerian Army.”

The COAS added that: “The Nigerian Army has enjoyed and will continue to enjoy the support and cooperation of the good people of Bauchi and neighbouring communities towards confronting the challenges of the security in the country.”

According to him, the school project is one of the many civil military cooperations related activities and quick impact project taking place in various parts of the country as part of Nigerian Army corporate social responsibility.

In his remark, The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, thanked the Nigerian Army for its sacrifices towards the maintenance of peace and security in the country.

Governor Mohammed who was represented by the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Aliyu Tilde, assured that his administration would continue to collaborate with the Nigerian Army to ensure that the state is secured for everyone.
