NIPR partners AD4TVRADiO to weed quack practices

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations ((NIPR), says it is ready to partner with AD4TVRADiO to war against quacks in the country.

National President of the Institute, Murtkar Sirajo, who disclosed this during a visit to the station in Abuja at the weekend, decried the influx of quacks into the profession and called on those who are in the system already to register with the body of face the full wrath of the law.

According to him, the body is set to collaborate with the Attorney-General of Nigeria to ensure strict compliance with the established Act in the practice of the profession, noting that such collaboration with enable NIPR go after the quacks and weed them out of the system.

“Very soon, we will go after them as there would henceforth no hiding place for them as all machinery will be in place to prosecute the erring quacks, Sirajo said.

He called on those who are interested in the profession to approach the body for advice on how to register and become member adding that there are categories of membership.

Sirajo commended the Management of the TV/Radio station and called on them not to hesitate to contact the institute on areas of additional values.

“This station is managed by one of us and it is a pride to us and we are ready to partner with the in any area the find us worthy. NIPR is happy to be part of this family”, he said

On his part, the Managing Director of the Station, Dr. Jacob Alada thanked the body for the visit and promises to uphold the tenet of the profession at all times, noting that the station will not deviate from its core focus of educating the public on vital issues affecting the nation.

He promised the institute of quality coverage of its events and to partner with it in order to achieve its core mandates.

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) was established in 1963. The body attained the status of a Chartered Institute in June 1990 through Decree No. 16 (now an Act of the National Assembly) from which it derives the power and responsibility to register members, set parameters of knowledge to acquire to qualify to practice, regulate the practice and development of the PR Profession as well monitor professional conducts through an established Code of Ethics, amongst others. As it is the practice with respectable professional organizations everywhere, the law stipulates standard academic and professional qualifications for admission into the Institute.

The NIPR’s primary objectives are to advance the standards of the public relations profession and to provide members with professional development opportunities. An important element to the Institute’s growth and development is the advisory input and creativity of a large body of leadership from within the membership.

Nigerian Institute of Public Relations Public Relations Practitioners Decree No. 16 of 1990 empowers the Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations to determine what standards of knowledge and skills are to be attained by Public Relations practitioners.
