The Palestine Embassy in Nigeria has issued a statement condemning the ongoing US-Israeli massacres of Palestinians, describing it as a “wake-up call for all humanity” that not only targets the Palestinian people but also the current economic and political orders that have ruled the world since World War II.
The embassy noted that the conflict is being deliberately televised and streamed to send a clear message to countries in the Global South: accept the new economic and political rules and systems or face the same fate as the Palestinian people.
Ambassador of the Embassy of the State of Palestine, Abdullah M. Abu Shawesh, said in a statement on Sunday that the devastating impact of the conflict, including: a death toll of 40,738 as of September 3, 94,154 injuries.
Mr. Shawesh noted that thousands are still missing under the rubble while 70% of victims being innocent women and children and 4% of victims being elderly Gazans
“10,400 Palestinian arrests since October 7, including 725 children, 400 women, and 98 journalists. Over 60 Palestinians have died in Israeli custody due to medical neglect”, he said.
Furthermore, the embassy highlighted that the Israeli war extends to the Occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, where settlers and occupation soldiers attack Palestinian communities daily. Since the beginning of the war, 681 Palestinians have been martyred, and nearly 6,700 have been injured.
The embassy criticized the international community for its inaction, particularly the US and other Western countries, which continue to supply arms to Israel despite evidence of war crimes.
The statement called on the international community to enforce international law and UN resolutions, hold accountable those responsible for war crimes, stop arms transfers to Israel and provide protection and assistance to Palestinian civilians
The embassy concluded by emphasizing the need for the international community to stand firm and take action to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.
