The State of Palestine has commended the Federal Government of Nigeria for its show of solidarity and its clear stance in support of international law and rejecting the ‘law of the jungle’ in the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria, Abdullah M. Abu Shawesh, gave the commendation in a statement issued to newsmen on Friday in Abuja, the Nigeria’s capital city.
The statement is titled: “243 calls to the whole world: Maintain international law and reject the law of the jungle”.
Mr. Shawesh also hailed the Nigerian government’s decision to back the World Health Organization’s resolution and three Palestinian amendments, saying it’s a significant step towards promoting peace and balance on the international political stage.
He said: “Today, I would like to begin by offering my sincere thanks to the Federal Republic of Nigeria for taking a very clear position in supporting the resolution and the three Palestinian amendments to the World Health Organization resolution that was adopted last Friday.
“We look forward to Nigeria utilizing its full political weight, known and respected around the world, to secure balance on the international political stage and prevent jungle law from dominating.
The move comes as Slovenia has recognized Palestine as an independent and sovereign state, and the Palestinian people continue to face devastating losses – 36,550 martyrs, 82,959 injured, and nearly 10,000 missing. The majority of the victims are women and children.
He also condemned the Israeli occupation’s grip on Palestinian water sources and its discriminatory policies, describing it as ‘racist and Jewish supremacies.’
“In some Western democratic countries, freedom of expression is guaranteed by constitutions as long as you do not criticize the Israeli occupation. If you do so, it will be considered hate speech and Anti-Semitism, and there is no room for freedom of expression”, he said.
The Palestinian Ambassador, further, called on national parliaments worldwide to sever ties with Israel until it reviews and dismantles its ‘despicable racist laws.’
