Part 2 – I Belong Here; I Belong There – Whose Are You? By LINDA ASIMOLE ELLAH

are you a learner?

This Part 2 continues to look at the choice of association. Like the Part 1 of this piece indicated, that any man or woman who does not take the time and trouble to spell out his or her own pathway and destination, will follow along any pathway as dictated by others.

If you do not have plans and goals for your own life, you will keep falling into the plans of others, waiting for others to make you, hoping on “e go better”, yet your destiny and purpose is far bigger than that. It all boils down to association.

Reviewing Your Association

Who am I associating with? To whom do I belong? On which side do I stand? What are my beliefs about my life, my present and my future? What current associations are time-wasters in discovering my purpose and following through with it? Am I choosing life or choosing death by way of your current association?

If you care about living a life in Christ Jesus, which is a sure way to a good life on earth and in eternity, then you know that you cannot follow just any group or association. You would want to ask yourself what they do, what they are about, what they say, and what are the solicited and unsolicited counsels you receive from them. Does this friendship, relationship or association have anything to do with strengthening and upholding your life in Jesus Christ? Are there testifiers and witnesses of Christ Jesus in the group? Is the leadership committed to helping you become a better person on the path of your purpose?

I Know Whose I Am
Do you know whose you are? You certainly do belong somewhere and to someone. The primary task of the evil one is to steal, to kill and to destroy. “A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance” (John 10:10). The work of the devil is to steal your time – your life, kill your purpose and destroy destinies. But you can also be on the side of the One who created life, gives life, and gives it abundantly.

We associate with others for various reasons and with diverse motives. While it is imperative to reach out to one another as social beings, there are things we pursue that need not be pursued. These things come to us as we prioritize our work and journey with God and the Holy Spirit. And then everything else will be added unto you.

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all other things will be added unto you” (Mathew 6:33)

Choose to invest time with God and the things of God; in prayer, praise, thanksgiving, study of The Word, charity works, evangelism, Ministry, fellowship and unceasing prayer. These are your best association so that you can become a conqueror of Christ in a world that is overwhelmed with sin, family problems, social ills, wickedness, and challenges at various levels.
