Plateau Governor, Mutfwang prioritizes agriculture, urges new appointees to drive development

In a bid to transform Plateau State into Nigeria’s agricultural hub, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has pledged to allocate more resources towards the agricultural sector.

The governor made this announcement during the swearing-in ceremony for 22 newly appointed Special Advisers and 24 liaison officers from the 17 local government areas of Plateau, held on Monday in Jos.

“Given the current economic situation, we have no choice but to focus on agriculture. It is imperative that we prioritize the agricultural business and tap into our state’s abundant potential to position Plateau as Nigeria’s agriculture hub.

“The world is waiting for us to export flowers, strawberry, coffee, vegetables and other items to foreign countries” Governor Mutfwang declared, highlighting the necessity of prioritizing agriculture amidst prevailing challenges.

He emphasized the need to capitalize on Plateau’s rich agricultural potential to stimulate economic growth and development.

Governor Mutfwang also stressed the importance of peace and security in enabling agricultural activities, highlighting the initiatives taken by his administration to enhance security for farmers.

“There must be peace for people to farm, that is why we revived the Plateau Peace Building Agency and taken other measures that will guarantee the security of our farmers and agricultural investments”. He stated.

In congratulating the newly appointed officials, Governor Mutfwang urged them to attract investors to the state and contribute to its development.

He emphasized the critical role of government appointees in generating funds for developmental projects, urging them to hit the ground running and support the administration’s efforts to drive progress in Plateau State.
