Lakurawa Terrorists
By HARUNA AHMED, Birnin-Kebbi –
In a show of integrity, police officers in Kebbi State have rejected a whopping ₦1.06 million bribe offered by three suspects linked to the notorious Lakurawa bandits.
The command’s spokesman, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Birnin-Kebbi.
CSP Abubakar, who identified the suspects as Umaru Garba, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji Mamman, and Usman Muhammadu, said they attempted to bribe the lead investigator to compromise the investigation and prosecution of a banditry case.
He said the suspects were immediately arrested, and investigations are ongoing.
The Police Public Relations Officer added that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The state Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, commended the detectives for their integrity and professionalism, urging other officers to emulate their commitment to upholding justice. Sani reiterated the command’s resolve to intensify efforts in combating banditry and other crimes to ensure socio-economic development in Kebbi State.
