Police arrests 60-year-old man for raping 5-year-old child in Bauchi

A 60-year-old man, Muhammed Dahiru, has been arrested in Bauchi State for alleged raping of a five-year-old child.

Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this in a media statement released to journalists on Tuesday in Bauchi.

He said that the suspect, after raping the minor, threatened to slaughter her if she discloses his identity.

Wakil, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said that the suspect connived with the area court in Nahuta and served the victim’s father court summon claiming defamation of character.

He said: “On 20th September, 2020 at about 10.00am, one Auwalu Isah, Male, of Nahuta village, Toro L.G.A, came to Police Station and reported that on 19th September, 2020 at about 2pm, one Muhammed Dahiru, Male (60) of same address lured his daughter one Aisha (not real name), (5) into an uncompleted building in the same address owned by the suspect and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

“Thereafter, he threatened to slaughter her if she disclosedls his identity. The complainant disclosed that they discovered the victim to have sustained virginal injury and was bleeding.

“Muhammed Dahiru, in connivance with area court, Nahuta, served the victim’s father a court summon for a case of defamation of character on Saturday 19th September, 2020 at about 5pm.”

According to him, upon receipt of the complain, a team of detectives was drafted to the scene and the victim was taken to the General Hospital Toro for medical care.

He said that the suspect was arrested and investigation is ongoing after which suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.

The Police Spokesman added that also on 20th September, 2020 at about 8pm, a Joint Task Force Operation drafted to Gwana village via Alkaleri L.G.A. have arrested one Isah Wada, Male (28) of Gobirawa village Alkaleri L.G.A, Bauchi state for being in possession of one fabricated Sub-Machine Gun, twelve live ammunitions and three empty shells of pistol. 

“When the suspect was interrogated, he revealed that he and others terrorized Duguri and Gwana. He also mentioned Manu, Nunnu and Dandaru as his team members who are now at large.

“He said they conspired among themselves  and attacked Juji village entered about four different houses threatened them with guns and collected money from innocent citizens.”

“Investigation is in progress and effort is been intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects,” he stated.

The Police PRO warned members of the public against taking laws into their hands and not to relent in providing useful information that may assist the Police in making the State safe and secured.
