Police arrests 20 suspected rapists in Bauchi

ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi
Bauchi state Police Command, in its efforts to stem the tide of sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) in the state, arrested 20 suspected rapists within 40 days across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi state Command, Ahmed Wakil, stated this in a statement made available to journalists in Bauchi on Tuesday.
He said that among those arrested was a 46 year old man who allegedly raped his daughter after he lured her with N50.
Wakil added that three men were also arrested for gang raping a nine old girl.
“On 28th July, 2020 at about 10.00am, information was receipt from Unguwar Gara, Gamawa L.G.A of Bauchi state, that on 4th August and on the same date at about 7.10pm one Abdullahi Adamu (25), Abdullahi Abubakar (23) and Auwalu Haruna (22), all males of Unguwar  gara, Unguwar Kudu and Udubo respectively gang raped one Amina (not real name) (9) female of Unguwar kudu Gamawa town consecutively at Gamawa motor park, Gamawa market, public toilet.
“The suspects were arrested while the victim was rushed to the General Hospital Gamawa for medical examination.”
According to him, the suspects confessed to the crime and investigation is ongoing after which suspects will be charged to court for prosecution as soon as possible.
He also said that: “On 31st July, 2020, at about 2pm, one Umar Mohammed alias Wulas, male (46) of Odoji quarters Azare, met his daughter whom is mentally unstable, one Aisha (not real name) (15) of the same address lured her with fifty naira (N50.00k) and had carnal knowledge of her in her mother’s room.”
He said that the suspect was arrested on 6th August, 2020, the victim was taken to General Hospital Azare for medical examination. 
The suspect, according to him, confessed to the crime while investigation is ongoing after which the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution as soon as possible.
Wakil, a Deputy Superintendent of Police informed that: “On the 12th August, 2020 at about 12.30pm, one Kabiru Ahmad (52), male of Kofar Idi area of Bauchi, reported that on the same day, at about 12.00pm, one Ibrahim Mohammed, male of same address (45), took his son Shehu (not real name) who is 11yrs to his house and had canal knowledge of him through his anus.
“The suspect was arrested and confessed to the crime investigation is on progress after which suspects will be charged to court for prosecution as soon as possible.”
The Police Spokesman said that on 9th August, 2020, the Police received a report that four men criminally conspired and kidnapped a 14-year old girl and kept her for one month in a house in Misau local government area of the state.
He added that the suspects gang raped their victim repeatedly within the period.
“On 9th August, 2020, a report was received at Misau Police Station that one Usman Adamu, (20) of Nasarawa area Misau, criminally conspired with  Adamu Muhammad (21), Nura Musa and one Khalid Abdullahi now at large, all males of Nasarawa area abducted Halima (not real name)(14), female of Hardawa area and kept her in a house located at the same Nasarawa area for almost a month.
“All suspects mentioned above had canal knowledge of her.
“Upon receipt of the report, a team of detectives were drafted to the scene and the victim was rushed to the General Hospital Misau, for medical examination.
“The suspects were arrested and they confessed to the crime,” he said.
He said that investigation is on progress after which suspects will be charged to court for prosecution as soon as possible.
He said that on the 10th August, 2020, one Usman Musa, male of Panshanu village in Toro LGA, came to Toro Police Station and reported that on the 28th July, 2020 at about 2pm, his wife, Hadiza, of the same address who was on native treatment at Tashan Badikko village, Wonu ward, left the house to where she was receiving treatment based on her psychiatric problem to the main road.
“While on her way,” he stated, “and on reaching the nearby forest, one Hussein Adamu, male of Tashan Badikko met her with threatening words, demanded the sum of 10,000.00 from her which she could not afford.
“From there, the said Hussein Adamu, grabbed her forcefully and had canal knowledge of her.”
He said that the suspect was arrested and upon interrogation, he confessed to have committed the crime adding that investigation is ongoing after which suspect would be charged to court for prosecution as soon as possible.
Wakil further said that on the 10th August, 2020 at about 1.25pm, one Sadi Bala, male of Lakka came to the station and reported that about five months earlier, one Haruan Musa alias Babawo (25), male of Tsangaya Maikumsa Ningi L.G.A gave his 13-year old daughter named Aisha (not real name), an egg and mango.
He said that the Musa lured her with it into his tailoring shop located at Ningi main market and had canal knowledge of her.
According to him, when the Police received the report, a team of Policemen were immediately drafted to the scene and the victim was rushed to the General Hospital Ningi for medical examination and a doctor confirmed that the victim was carrying a five (5)  month pregnancy.
He said that when the suspect was arrested and he confessed to the crime and investigation is ongoing after which he will be charged to court for prosecution as soon as possible. 
The Police Spokesman called on the public to continue cooperating with the Police and other security agencies in combating crime in the state urging them to report any incident to the Police immediately for necessary action.
