Rotary Club of Maiduguri, District 9127, has successfully executed a comprehensive education initiative targeting both early childhood development and adult mass literacy in Borno State.
Led by Club President Rotarian Abdulkarim Haruna, the club visited Jajel Public School, where they distributed exercise books and writing materials to over 600 students to encourage academic excellence,.
A statement issued and signed by the Club Secretary, Rotarian Brenda Ngo Nkamo, said the top 30 performing students received fully stocked, branded school bags containing textbooks and stationery.
”Your future rests on the way you pursue your education,” President Haruna told the students while emphasizing that the donation is a strategic investment in the region’s future leaders.
The outreach was also extended to the Borno State Agency for Mass Literacy, where the club donated materials to support adults seeking education later in life.
Haruna praised the adult learners for using education as “a weapon to conquer poverty and illiteracy.”
The Director of Literacy at the Agency commended Rotary for visiting a facility often overlooked by donors, while student leaders called for continued public support.
The Rotary Club of Maiduguri continues to serve the community through various avenues, including Polio eradication, Maternal and Child Health, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and environmental protection projects.
