“See police as a collective venture” – CP Hassan urges stakehokders

PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –

The new Cross River State Police Commissioner, Aminu Hassan has urged major stakeholders in the state to see policing as a collective venture and not to leave it in the hands of security operatives alone.

CP Hassan gave the charge while briefing newsmen in his office on Thursday in Calabar.

“May I at this juncture, sincerely appreciate the trust and confidence of Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+), NPM, fde, who found me worthy to be posted to the State, to continue from where my colleague, CP Sikiru Kayode Akande stopped”.

“Furthermore, I want to reiterate my resolve to align with the vision and mission of the Inspector General of Police”

According to the police chief: “barely 24 hours of my assumption, arrest of a suspect in possession of unlawful ammunition which was intercepted by the police in Obudu”.

He said “The police under his watch will continue to have respect for Fundamental Human Rights, policing in line with the international best practices, zero tolerance of crime and his initiative of Operation Restore Peace (RP) in our respective Areas of Responsibility (AOR) at a times”.

“In view of the above, I wish to use this medium to call on Cross Riverians, eminent stakeholders, community/youths leaders, spiritual heads and traditional institutions to see security as a collective venture and not to leave it in the bands of the police alone”.


The police commissioner, however, assured the people of the command’s commitment to operate under the principles of justice, and fairness.
