Shehu of Dikwa urges parents to immunize their children against polio

His Royal Highness, the Shehu of Dikwa Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Umar Ibrahim El-kanemi, CON, has appealed to his subjects across his Emirate to make their children available to health workers for polio immunization.
The monarch made the appeal while flagging off the polio vaccination campaign on Saturday in Dikwa the Headquarters of Dikwa Local Government Area.
This is contained in a statement issued and signed by the Zanna Wawurma of Dikwa Emirate Council, Zanna Abubakar Mala Gajibo and made available to newsmen in Maiduguri on Sunday.
The statement quoted the Shehu of Dikwa as tasking district heads, community leaders, organizations, religious bodies, individuals, and families to join in mobilizing mothers and caregivers to support the campaign.
He said the immunization, which began on Friday, is meant to boost Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s commitment at ensuring Borno children are safe and healthy.
He said “Polio as a preventable disease through vaccination. For immunization is the best protection against polio and is recommended for all infants and children to protect them from the harmful effects of polio.
The Immunization campaign was attended by Vice Chairman of Dikwa Local Government Area, UNICEF representative Mustapha Muhammad, Coordinator Primary Health Care Dikwa Babagana Bulama, village and ward heads including the Secretary of Dikwa Emirate Council.
