Sokoto Agric Commissioner, Arzika Tureta is dead

The Sokoto State Commssioner for Agriculture, Hon Muhammad Arzika Tureta is dead.


The 62 years old Hon Arzika was until his dead a respected politician in Sokoto State.


According to a transition and burial announcement personally signed by Governor Amimu Waziri Tambuwal on Monday, the governor described the late Arzika as an agricultural entrepreneur. 


The statement by Tambuwal read in part, “With sublime submission to the will of Allah (SWT), on behalf of the government and good people of Sokoto state, I hereby announce the death of our Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Muhammad Arzika Tureta (1959-2021)”.


“Hon. Tureta, who had variously served as Commissioner in the state before his last appointment, battled with protracted illness recently died yesterday night”.


“An agricultural entrepreneur, administrator and politician, he attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he bagged a Bachelor of Education”.


“He was a member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly (SOHA) under the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC) and member of the House of Representatives for Bodinga/ Dange-Shuni/Tureta Federal Constituency on the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He was also the State Chairman of the PDP in Sokoto State”.


While praying Almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest in Aljanna Firdaus, Tambuwal informed that the late Arzika will be buried today in his hometown of Tureta according to Islamic rites. 


“He will be buried today at his home town of Lambar Tureta in Sokoto state”
