Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, with Governor Ahmed Aliyu during a Sallah homage visit at the Presidential Lodge in Sokoto
Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has openly declared full support for the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu, describing his leadership as impactful and people-focused.
The monarch made this known during a traditional Sallah homage visit to the governor at the Sokoto Presidential Lodge, where he commended ongoing development efforts across the state.
According to him, the Sultanate Council remains firmly aligned with the policies and programmes of the current administration, particularly in areas such as infrastructure, social welfare, and empowerment initiatives.
“We are very proud of our Governor, and we are 100 percent in support of what he is doing for the state.”
He cautioned against attempts to create disunity, especially through misinformation on social media.
“No amount of mischief can separate us. People should always fear God in whatever they say or post on social media,” the Sultan appealed.
On the issue of insecurity, the Sultan disclosed plans to convene a meeting with District Heads across the state. The meeting, he said, will focus on identifying ways traditional institutions can complement government efforts in tackling security challenges.
He also called on residents to cooperate with the government and contribute meaningfully toward the peace and progress of Sokoto State.
Earlier, Governor Ahmed Aliyu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions, announcing plans to renovate palaces of District Heads across the state.
A statement issued by his Director General of Media and Publicity, Abubakar Bawa, quoted the governor as emphasizing the importance of providing suitable working environments for traditional rulers.
“We are not unaware of the dilapidated conditions of many district heads’ palaces in the state.
“Very soon, we will commence their renovation, beginning with the palace of the District Head of Wurno,” the Governor said.
Aliyu noted that District Heads play a crucial role as the closest link between government and grassroots communities, stressing that improved facilities would enhance their effectiveness.
The governor further assured that his administration would continue to collaborate with the Sultanate Council to address pressing issues, particularly insecurity in rural areas.
He also reiterated his commitment to ongoing infrastructure and urban renewal projects across the state, while maintaining an open-door policy.
Residents were encouraged to share ideas and constructive feedback that could help drive development and improve governance in Sokoto State.
