Tambuwal swear-in LG Council chairmen, Urge Them To Be Servant Of All.

The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has sworn in the newly elected 23 Local Government Councils’ Chairmen of the State, charging them to be leaders that serves everybody irrespective of political diffences, religion or creed.

Governor Tambuwal who further admonished them not to resort into hiding from their people by going to stay in hotels, reminded them that aside being the third tier of government, the local government is the closest to the people and must be ready to serve the locals.

“You must not be found juncating from one hotel or location to another. Except for very obvious reason, you have to be in your respective councils to serve the people especially those in the most security troubled zone”

While urging them to ensure that they hold security meetings fortnightly and report back to him to enable them be abreast with developments within their domains, Tambuwal noted that they must not betray the trust and confidence reposed on them by the electorate.

“You must deligently carry out their responsibilities to the public in honesty and commitment hence the the third tier of government is the closest to the populace and must therefore serve as the drivers of development to the people”.

“You have to be fair in your dealings with members of the society by treating them in the best possible way irrespective of whatever differences. Now you are elected leaders for all and not any political party, hence you must understand that governance is different from politicking. Everybody within your local government is under your office”.

Recall that all the 23 elected Local Government Chairmen were elected under the platform of form of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party in the state.

Speaking about the election that produced all the chairmen, Governor Tambuwal said the State has made history, being the first to use the INEC card readers in Local Government elections.

He further commended the steadfastness of the State Independent Electoral Commssion (SIEC), security agencies in the State, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar 111, as well as the electorates for their confidence in his adminstration as demonstrated by the massive turnout during the council polls.
