Tenant docked over alleged threat to landlady’s life

A 45-year-old man,  Ebuka Emeka, who allegedly threatened his landlady with a knife,  was on Friday, arraigned before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Emeka is standing trial before Magistrate D.S Odukoya, on a one-count charge of threat to life.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to the charge

The prosecutor, Insp. O. Jubril, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 24, at Ajangbadi area of Ojo.

He alleged that the man had a misunderstanding with his landlady, one Mrs Adejoke Sowummi and in the ensuing argument, drew out a knife with which he threatened her.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provision of section 58 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case until July 20 for trial . (NAN)
