Abraham – A Great and Unmistaken Model of Christian Faith
I never appreciated Abraham’s call as I do now after studying this book. Oh! That man “obeyed God without minding the consequences.” Abraham’s faith as described in this book just opens up one’s understanding of why Abraham has being referred to as our father in faith. I have learnt that as one on a pilgrim, I must, like Abraham, keep asking God for the “next turn”.

We Serve a God of Promises
Isn’t it amazing to know that we serve a God who is not a “use and dump”. God calls a person and fills the person’s life with promises. This is because God cares about our welfare and wellbeing. He does not call us into emptiness, lack, pain and defeat. Yes, there may be trials, challenges, difficulties and troubles, but as Jesus said in his word, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Here we have an assurance of victory over sin, over death, and over the troubles and things that disturb our mind. We see God’s call of Abraham filled with lots of promises. Firstly, God tells Abraham, “I will make of thee a great Nation”. Waoh! What a promise to someone who did not even have a child. Indeed, God is not a “use and dump”. Read this book and see practical ways in which he furnished and rewards those who follow him diligently.
The Call Goes with Being Tested
God allows certain situations and circumstances in order to know what is in the heart of the one he called. I learnt that a trial period must not be allowed to waste – Be it persecution, rejection, accusation, or scandal. Every moment is a moment to draw closer to God, despite trial or affliction. The author wrote: “There is an agenda and calendar that God is about to release to you. Do not be in a hurry until you know what is written in the ‘Volume of the Book’ of your life. Do not deprive your generation the privilege of inheriting this blessing from you. You can leave a legacy”. Many of such counsel abound in the book. Get the book and see more.
It Is Not About Doing It My Way
In the things of God, in my walk and work with God, I must be careful not to take things into my own hands and try to do things in my own way. Sometimes we think God is slow and so we want to do things our own way. Read and find out the dangers of doing this.
I Will Always Need God’s Visitation
At every point of my life, I will always need God’s visitation. This is because there is always something that God still needs to accomplish and achieve in me and through me. This is always that depth of God that I still need to get to. Is this and idea you want to deepen, then read the book.
