The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting thunderstorms and rains across the country from Monday to Wednesday.
According to NiMet, thundery and rainy weather activities are expected in various parts of the country.
*“Regional Weather Outlook”*
*Northern Region*: Thunderstorms with rains expected during afternoon or evening hours over parts of Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Jigawa, Yobe, Kano, Katsina, Gombe, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kaduna States.
*Central Region*: Morning thunderstorms with rains expected over parts of Niger, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory, while isolated thunderstorms are expected during afternoon or evening periods over parts of Plateau, Federal Capital Territory, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Niger States-
*Southern Region*: Cloudy skies with prospects of morning light rains over parts of Ogun, Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States, and afternoon or evening thunderstorms with light rains over parts of Ogun, Lagos, Ondo, Oyo, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom State
NiMet advised the public to take adequate precautions, including:
Fastening loose objects to avoid collision, avoiding driving under heavy rain, disconnecting electrical appliances from electrical sockets, staying away from tall trees to avoid impact from falling branches and broken trees and staying informed through weather updates from NiMet
NiMet also advises airline operators to get airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from the agency for effective planning in their operations.
