President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Sunday Ndidi, father of Super Eagles captain and Besiktas midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi.
Sunday Ndidi reportedly died in a fatal road accident on Tuesday in Umunede, near Agbor, Delta State, plunging his family and the Nigerian football community into mourning.
In a condolence message issued on Wednesday through his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commiserated with the Ndidi family, describing the loss as heartbreaking and painful.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of Sunday Ndidi. I share in the grief of his family, friends and associates, particularly Wilfred Ndidi, who shared a strong bond with his father as a mentor and guide in his remarkable career as an exceptional footballer,” the President said.
President Tinubu further acknowledged the late Sunday Ndidi’s personal values and influence on those around him, noting that his life of integrity left a lasting impression.
“There is no doubt that Sunday’s modest beginnings and honesty greatly impacted those who looked up to him for inspiration,” he added.
The President prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family and asked God to grant eternal rest to the departed soul.
President Tinubu prayed that God Almighty will comfort the Ndidi family and grant eternal repose to the soul of the departed.
