UNICAL Open Distance Learning to take off next academic session – VC

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Professor Florence Obi has said that the University Open Distance Learning will take off next academic session.

Prof. Obi stated this during a town hall meeting at the International Conference Centre to Mark her 2nd year anniversary as the 11th Vice Chancellor of the University,

She said the approval has been given by the University Senate and hopefully the National University Commission (NUC) will be visiting the University for verification and approval.

On ethical re-orientation and war against corruption, the VC promised to do all within her power to fight corruption .

“For we cannot hope to excel in an environment where corruption is a norm. We are waging war against corruption aggressively'”

According to her , the administration which started the journey on Friday, December 1st, 2020 has covered some mileage.

“”Today we have newly tarred, clean and velvet roads around the campus ,new ones being constructed in numerous areas, solar powered street lights”

“The plan will be a very reflective mirror to guide our action plan to reposition the university to play in the big league of first world class university”.

“As you would recall, the University of Calabar had been blacklisted at the time of my assumption of office for improprieties related to project funds handling and execution.

“Our efforts aimed at redeeming the name of the Institution have paid off , and today we are attracting interventions on infrastructure to the university”

“We seek the infrastructure transformation of the Institution which explains why we attracted so much during the long lockdown and the industrial strike action in the University”.
