A first class traditional ruler, Alhaji Mustapha Zubairu Adam, the Gom- Mama, in Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, who was on Monday night abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, has regained his freedom few hours after the incident.

NATIONAL ACCORD reports that the traditional ruler was whisked away by his abductors who stormed his palace in Kwarra, the headquarters of Farin Ruwa Development Area in Wamba LGA of the state around 7:30pm on Monday, but was later dumped behind secretariat around 1AM today.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that the kidnappers in their large number stormed the Mosque within the palace, where they over powered the policemen attached to the monarch and ordered all the security to lie face down and they made away with him.

“The gunmen came in their large number on foot shortly after the traditional ruler and some of his subjects just finished the Isha (nighttime) prayer around 7:30pm and ordered the security to lie down and they seized the monarch and went away with him to unknown destination”.

“As they were going, the traditional ruler collapsed and later gained consciousness, so he pleaded with his abductors that he has some money in the palace, they allowed him to make contact and the money was brought by one person, they released Gom Mama, but they took away the guy that brought the money, but I don’t know how much” the source said.

The ugly development is coming barely one month after kidnappers abducted a first class monarch of Gurku Chiefdom in Karu Local Government Area of the state, Alhaji Jibril Mamman Waziri, alongside his wife, Hajiya Sa’adatu.

Overseer of Farin Ruwa Development Area, Mr Solomon Gbande, confirmed the development this morning in a telephone interview with our correspondent.

According to him, they deployed military and police, to trail the kidnappers through the route they followed and to “God be the glory he was released few hours after his abduction”.

“We couldn’t sleep since he was kidnapped around 7:30pm on Monday, we deployed army and police to go after the kidnappers and by 1am, they brought him and dumped him behind the council secretariat in Kwarra, but I am not aware if any ransom was paid” he said.
