War, never a solution to national challenges – Cleric

The Chief Imam of the University of Benin Central Mosque, Prof. Biliaminu Ayinde, has warned that war was never a solution to the prevailing challenges facing the country.

Iman Ayinde gave the warning on Friday in his Juma’at sermon ìn Benin.

According to him, the aftermath of war is terrible.

”Because post-war syndrome will affect everybody, even those who do not partake in it”.

”Though Nigeria was faced with various challenges, only prayers can resolve them,” he said.

The claric urged those fanning the ember of discord to learn from the experiences of countries like Rwanda, Liberia and Somalia.

”These countries are still battling with the consequences of war several years after it ended,” he said.

Ayinde admonished the congregants to always engage in good deeds.

“There is a limited time for us to spend on the surface of the earth. Therefore, the opportunity for us is now.

“Once, we die, that is the end of everything. Nothing will go with us except for our deeds.

“It is only those with good deeds that will inherit the heaven notwithstanding any prayer.

“Do you think kidnappers, criminals, corrupt politicians and the likes will rest in peace even if we pray for them,” he said. (NAN)
