Your Belief Vs Your Life By LINDA ASIMOLE ELLAH

are you a learner?

Take a pause and think about this: Your life lies in your mind and in the beliefs you hold on to. Your life and how it is taking shape is a function of your beliefs. Your mind is very powerful in shaping INTO BEING the things you want or do not want. So, pay attention to Your BELIEF SYSTEM. Is your belief system creating a better life for you or drawing you backwards? An Igbo saying goes that the things that happen to us comes from our hands.

It is necessary that we take time often to check the beliefs we have and how they rhyme with the actual life we lead. For example, you say you believe in God, but it looks like only in words. You claim Christianity but in practice you don’t entrust your life to God. When push comes to shove, you begin looking for something else to hold on to. You have a belief that God loves and cares for you, but you find it difficult to surrender to Divine Abundance and Divine Providence. In fact, your faith, your belief constantly doubts Divine Providence. So, that is why you go to any length to get the things you want.

When you find yourself in a challenging situation, in a difficult condition, what beliefs do you have recourse to? Hypocrisy and not practicing the worthy tenets of one’s faith comes from not living out one’s belief.

How You Live Your Belief

Your Mind forms Your Beliefs. You have belief about everything, every circumstance and every person in your life. You have the power to use your mind to form positive, uplifting, empowering and enabling beliefs. Every belief you have manifests in your life.

So, if your mind is a big function of the beliefs you have in your life, and if every belief you have manifests in your life, will you resolve to begin forming positive beliefs that help your life? Your belief originates from your thoughts. It is your thinking pattern that forms your belief system. It is your thinking pattern that build the beliefs you have about everything.

A student who is about to graduate is faced with the pressure of having sex with the lecturer before she can graduate. You believe in God but in this situation, you believe you have to do what is necessary at the moment to get by. You’re not able to keep to your good values, ethics and principles because you believe you just need to take charge of your life and do the needful at the moment.

Yes, a culture may have a set of belief, but you have the freedom to key into that or not to. If you believe in God, you can learn to truly live that belief by entrusting your present and future to God’s loving care? Not just in words, but by surrendering your will.

You Say: I have Positive Belief Yet No Result?

Even within the context of this question, the underlying issue is still BELIEF. The essence of building positive belief and belief in Divine Providence is not so that your life plays out according to how you have scripted it out in your head. Who says what you have scripted out is what your life should look like? As much as you develop positive beliefs, and genuinely trust Divine Providence, you are also aware that you live within a physical state that existentially has limitations and is finite.

Hence, how do you marry these two states above together?

Define your Purpose in the world and focus on it.  Despite all odds, be at your post and carry forth the purpose. Be aware that you are simply a tool of the Divine. Your life may not necessarily play out according to your defined script or according to how the world around you have defined success. You define your success accordingly to your own terms, and in line with your life purpose.

Just Be. Keep working at being the best version of yourself. Often this would make you look stupid, laidback, and even foolish in the eyes of others. But you must know WHO YOU ARE and what the essence of your life is truly about.

Live your life with simplicity, ease and flow and the good things of life will come to you.

We find it difficult to do what we can and JUST BE. You believe that your effort should play out within scripted lines. Now, this is not meant to undermine the very immense Values of Hard Work, Commitment, Goalsetting, Planning, and earning the fruits of one’s labour. Even these can be lived within the context of the above points.

The world, our society, our country needs more people who live by right principles, values, integrity, and know the essence of genuine service to humanity. The current crave for money (at every slight opportunity), and wealth is simply insane.

Your positive attitude, your positive beliefs and real trust in Divine Providence will be tested through life. But if you safeguard your inner joy and peace through it all, that is success already. This belief we refer to is action-driven.

In all these, a certain detachment of spirit is required. You are not just what the world says you are, neither are you just your bodily self. You are a Living Spirit with a mission to make the world a better place, within the context of your life’s Purpose. These too are beliefs that can help us positively. Believe and work it out because you can.

Declaration: “My belief system must create a better life for me.”
