
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum and the Shehu of Bama, Dr. Umar Kyari Umar El-Kanemi,

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Tuesday presented the First class staff of office to the newly appointed Shehu of Bama, Dr. Umar Kyari Umar El-Kanemi, in a grand ceremony held at the Central Stadium in Bama Local Government Area of the state.
The governor while presenting the staff of office to the royal father promised to complete the ongoing federal road from Maiduguri to Banki border towns towards boosting international trade and commerce with the Republics of Cameroon and Chad.

He further assured the people of Bama Emirate that his government will ensure the full take of Federal University of Agriculture Bama and endeavour to reconnect the Emirate with national grid.
Zulum said his administration would continue to support the Emirate and rehabilitate all the needed basic infrastructural facilities destroyed by the Boko Haram insurgents including facilitating relocation of IDPs to their ancestral homes to continue their normal life.
In his acceptance speech, the Shehu of Bama, HRH, Umar Kyari Umar Ibrahim El Kanemi expressed gratitude and profound appreciation to Governor Zulum for appointing him as the second Shehu of Bama to succeed his father, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Ibn Umar El Kanemi,the first Shehu of Bama, who ruled his people for almost 30 years.
He also recognized and appreciated the Bama Kingmakers and traditional council members contributions, supports and roles in the Emirate as well as stakeholders for the peaceful and cordial unity, solidarity and sacrifices the Emirate has been enjoying from them.

Before his appointment as the 2nd Shehu of Bama, His Royal Highness (Dr.) Umar Kyari Umar returned to Bama town, where he was subsequently turbaned on May 9th, 2020, succeeding his late father, HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Kyari Ibn Umar El Kanemi.
His decision to stay in Bama inspired thousands of Kanemi residents to do the same, bravely facing uncertainty amidst the destabilizing activities of Boko Haram insurgents.
To celebrate his turbaning, a mini durbar was held, featuring traditional council members, cultural dances and songs, and ceremonial gunshots, entertaining guests and honoring the occasion.

Notable dignitaries, who attended the ceremony include: Deputy Governor’s of Yobe and Borno states, former ministers; former state and deputy governors; the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III; former SGF, Amb. Babagana Kingibe; former FCT Architect Ibrahim Bunu; former Governor of Borno State and APC National Party Leader , Senator Ali Modu Sheriff (SAS).
Others are Emir of Dutse, HRH, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi; Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli; Emir of Lafia, HRH, Barrister Sidi Ahmed Bage Agwai II; Emir of Fika, HRH, Muhammad Abali Ibn Idrissa; Emir of Damaturu, HRH, Ashemi Ibn Umar El-Kanemi; top government officials and representatives of development and humanitarian organizations among others.
