Zulum profiles IDPs for return to 6 LGAs, reopens farmlands in Borno

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Sunday supervised the profiling of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the Gubio IDPs camp for onward relocation to their ancestral homes located in 5 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.

The IDPs who are mostly from Kukawa, Marte, Bama, Gwoza and Ngala LGAs have been in the camp for over seven years without farming.

The Governor, who explained that the living conditions in IDP camps is miserable with increasing crime and social vices, also said that those willing to return to their communities would be relocated soon.

He added that while those from the communities where peace is attained would go back to their ancestral homes, others would be resettled in secured places where they can have means of livelihood to stand on their own.

Governor Zulum noted that nobody would be forced to relocate while government would support those that are willing to go back with relocation start-up packages.

In another development, Governor Zulum returned to Dalwa, a farming community along Damboa – Maiduguri highway, in order to motivate farmers.

While at Dalwa, he personally took turn to harrow his own farm which he would be visiting from time to time.

It would be recalled that Zulum was in Dalwa on the 20th of June sequel to President Buhari’s directive to re-open farms along Mulai-Dalwa axis.
