
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum on Monday, presided over the swearing-in of 29 special advisers, 27 Local Government chairpersons, and 7 permanent secretaries to the state Civil Service.
The oath of allegiance and office was administered by the Borno State Chief Judge, Justice Kashim Zanna, who was represented by Justice Haruna Mshelia held at the multipurpose hall of the Government House Maiduguri.
The newly sworn-in 27 LGC Chairmen include a lady from Jere Local Government Council, Hajiya Inna Galadima, who emerged as winner at the 20th January, 2024 Local Government polls.
The 29 Special Advisers comprised of Yoruba, Igbo and indigenous technocrats and politicians from the 27 Local Government Councils in the State.

Speaking during the swearing ceremony Zulum urged the new LGC Chairmen and other officials sworn-in to live up to the expectations of the State government and their people in the discharge of their responsibilities.
“To the elected Local Government Chairmen, while congratulating you on your victory at the polls, I urge you to discharge your duties with utmost honesty, impartiality, compassion and fairness.
“You must work assiduously for the actualization of the shared prosperity mantra of our government,” Zulum said.
He explained that they should be aware that local government areas are an integral part of the overall state government development, focus and strategy in delivering dividends of democracy while urging them to give adequate attention people oriented projects and programmes as well address issues of poverty, unemployment and insecurity in their respective domains
The governor also called on the new Special Advisers to prioritize interest of the state at all times while discharging their duties, noting that, as Special advisers to the governor, each of them works for the entire state.
“To the special advisers, you should advise devoid of personal interests or that of a section of the state. As special advisers, you are for the whole state and must consider the interest of the state first before any other interest.
“You are expected to provide expertise and knowledge in specific areas of focus, such as policy development, economic matters and social issues or any other field relevant to the government’s agenda,” Zulum said.
In their separate remarks, the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Bukar Tijani Head of Service, Barrister Fannami Malami and the Commissioner for Local Government and Emirates Affairs, Hon. Sugun Mai Mele called on the newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries, Special Advisers and 26 LGC Chairmen respectively to imbibe the spirit of patriotism, absolute commitment, dedication, sincerity and transparency in the discharge of their responsibilities including welfare of their people.
In a vote of thanks on behalf of all the sworn-in officials, Hon. Tukur Digira expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for the opportunity given to them to serve the state.
He also assured their commitment to their responsibilities towards making positive impact on their people.
“We understand the weight of the responsibilities bestowed upon us. We pledge to work diligently, utilizing our exceptional skills, knowledge and experience to contribute meaningfully to the success of this administration. Our advice will be honest and well-informed, sir, Tukur said.
The swearing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor,Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur, Senators for Borno South, Muhammad Ali Ndume, , Barrister Mohammed Tahir Monguno, Borno North and Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan, Borno Central.
Others include APC National Deputy Chairman, North, Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, Shehu of Borno, represented by Mallam Terab of Borno, Terab Kyari Sanda, Shehu of Dikwa, Bama, and the Emirs of Biu, Gwoza, Askira, Shani, and Uba among others.
Borno State Chapter APC Chairman, Hon Bello Ayuba, Speaker of Borno State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan, Members of the House of Representatives, Hon. Engr Bukar Talba and Hon. Dr. Zainab Gimba, AIG Zone 15, GOC, Borno Police Commissioner, Borno NSCDC Commandant and other government as well as political party officials.
