Former Minister of Transport and one of the candidates that recently contested gubernatorial primaries of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Yusuf Suleiman has affirmed that Sokoto is hundred percent behind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
It would be recalled that Suleiman, defected from the APC to the PDP shortly after failing to clinch his party’s tickets.
The former minister was appointed the 2023 Sokoto State Director General of Campaign by the incumbent Governor Aminu Tambuwal of the PDP.
Addressing newsmen shortly after inaugurating stakeholders meeting of the PDP at Giginya hotels, Yusuf Suleiman said, “if elections are conducted a million time in Sokoto, the PDP will still win”.
Given reasons for his assertion, Suleiman said, “Our confidence is driven by the fact that, our people are hundred percent with us. Democracy is about people and once you know, your people are outrightly behind you, then you have no fear over any election.
“Even if election is conducted a million times in Sokoto, PDP will win hundred percent insha’allah. That therefore explains why I kept saying that this 2023 our prayers and hope are that God willing, PDP will not miss a single contestable seat”.
Speaking on the chances of his party to win the 2023 general elections, Suleiman said Atiku Abubakar of the PDP will floor all others with landslide victory come 2023.
“‘PDP will win, the presidential, gubernatorial, clear all the 3 senatorial district of Sokoto, all the 11 House of Representatives and all the 30 members of the State House of Assembly come 2023.
”This is our target and by the grace of Allah, it is achievable. Lossing a single election is not an option””.
On their strategies to actualizing the goals, he said it is simply going back to those who puts them there before who are still ready and willing to put them there again.
”And I am hundred percent confident that if there was any marriage between the Sokoto people and the APC before, it is now hundred percent divorced. It is a chaotic divorce. Sokoto has moved to the right ling ago which is the PDP and APC to be left.
While insisting that Sokoto people no longer want to have anything with APC, the PDP campaign DG, said they have a presidential candidate that is in his right frame of mind and senses.
“”Our greatest selling point is that, the PDP itself believe in democracy. Believes in empowering the people, and our candidates are better than others. Look at all of them. Take them head to head in comparison to others on both side right from the Presidential to governorship, you will know that we have filled the best candidates .
“‘Out presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the Wazirin Adamawa is the most competent amongst all. He was a vice president for 8 years. A successful business man, someone who is in his right senses and the most experienced of the lots. He is been around politics for along time and understand how to chat and effectively execute road maps to a greater prosperous country.
“This he can achieve and lots more because he is very much in his senses. You have never heard him missed calling PDP as APC, or have you? And that should tell you something about someone mental stability””.
The essence of the stakeholders meeting according to Yusuf Suleiman is to interface with the leaders of various council wards, committees, and political stakeholders.
