
African Democratic Congress (ADC) has produced Hon. Babagana Mamman Buhari as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general election in Borno State following the conclusion of the party’s primary elections held across the state.
Hon. Buhari emerged victorious after defeating fellow aspirants, Rear Admiral Sanusi Kashim Ibrahim (Rtd.) and Hon. Attom Muhammad Magira, in what party officials described as a keenly contested exercise.
The gubernatorial primary election was conducted across the three senatorial districts of Borno State — Borno North, Borno Central and Borno South — alongside participation from delegates drawn from the 28 local government areas of the state.
The exercise also featured primary elections for various National Assembly and State House of Assembly positions, attracting several party aspirants across different constituencies.
In the primary election for the House of Representatives seat representing Askira Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency, aspirants included Wablari Fali Uba, Yawutama Emmanuel, Amaza Baba Damboama and Alhaji Dauda Yerima.
For the Gwoza/Damboa/Chibok Federal Constituency, Josiah Ishaku Emthe and Hon. Lawan Kolomi contested for the party’s ticket.
Similarly, the race for the Jere Federal Constituency ticket featured Muhammad Nur Deribe, Dr. Muhammad Shettima, Mala Ngabura and Muhammed Jibrin Yahaya.
The party also conducted primaries for seats into the Borno State House of Assembly.
In the MMC State Constituency contest, aspirants included Muhammad Indimi, Abdullahi Bukar Tijjani, Amin Tijjani Muhammad and Mua’zu Usman Muhammad.
For the Jere State Constituency, Yunus Abubakar Sadiq, Yawudima Abatcha and Abdulmumimin Mohammed participated in the exercise.
Meanwhile, the Konduga State Constituency primary featured Ibrahim Mallum Mele and Alhaji Umara Hassan.
Party stakeholders commended the peaceful conduct of the primaries, describing the process as transparent and reflective of internal democracy within the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections.
