Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani has declared that he has no preferred aspirant ahead of the forthcoming party primaries in the state, assuring that he will not interfere in the process that will produce flag bearers of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor made the disclosure on Tuesday night while breaking the Ramadan fast with members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, urging aspirants to seek the support of party members rather than rely on perceived endorsements.
“My advice to every aspirant seeking any office is to go and get the support of party members. I have no anointed candidates in the coming primaries scheduled between April and May this year. I will abide strictly by the decision of the people,” he said.
Sani, however, reiterated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains his sole political priority, pledging to work for his reelection in the 2027 general elections.
The governor cautioned aspirants who may lose out in the primaries against working against the party, warning that such actions would be counterproductive.
Recalling his experience during previous APC congresses under the last administration, Sani said many of his supporters were allegedly prevented from securing party positions, yet he resisted pressure to undermine the party.
“At that time, some people urged me to work against the party. I told them I would not work against the house I helped to build. By the grace of God, I am governor today,” he said.
He urged party members to remain united, noting that the opposition would attempt to exploit internal grievances after the primaries.
“Our party is the only one that is standing strong. The opposition will try to instigate some members, especially after the primaries. We must resist such temptation because the party belongs to all of us,” he added.
On national politics, Sani alleged that opposition parties would seek to capitalise on security challenges to campaign against the APC in 2027, insisting that they lacked alternative solutions.
The governor maintained that the security situation in Kaduna State has improved since his administration assumed office in 2023, although he acknowledged that more work remains to be done.
He disclosed that 535 schools and 85 health facilities previously shut down due to insecurity have been reopened under his administration.
Sani also said the 35-kilometre Bagoma–Gagumi road linking 62 farming communities in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area is under construction, while a contract has been awarded for the Mando–Birnin Gwari road project.
