21 abducted children regain freedom in Katsina – Police

The Katsina State Police Command has announced the released of 21 children abducted from a farm in Mairuwa in Faskari LGA of the state.

NATIONAL ACCORD reports that the 21 children – 17 girls and 4 boys – aged between 15 and 18, were abducted last Sunday at about 12:30p.m. by ‘bandits.’.

United Nations Children’s Fund had on Friday called on the federal government to immediately secure the release the of the abducted children, which it described as “reprehensible”.

The state Police Public Relations Officers, SP Gambo Isa, who confirmed their release on Saturday in a statement, did not state whether ransom was paid or not.

SP Gambo said: “It is with great joy that I announce the release of all the 21 abducted teenage workers that were kidnapped while working on a farmland at Kamfanin Mai Lafiya village in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

“They have already been reunited with their families, while investigation is on-going,’’ Isa stated.
