ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi –
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp, Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi, has confirmed that two people were killed and six others injured in a lone fatal crash that occurred along Bauchi-Kano road on Sunday.
He said the crash occurred at about 9.53am close to Durum market along Bauchi-Kano highway in Bauchi.
He said the vehicle which has a registration number: GSH 42 AA, was driven by one Ibrahim.
The FRSC boss added that the crash was caused by speed violation and tyre burst.
“We got a call on Sunday morning that there was a about one kilometer after Durum market, along Bauchi-Kano highway.
“The crash which was caused by speed violation and tyre burst involved eight people, five male adults, two female adults and one female child.
“Our men got to there about 12 minutes later and rushed the victims to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, for medication and confirmation.
“There, a medical doctor confirmed two male adults, dead. Six others made up of three male adults, two female adults and one male child sustained various degrees of injuries.
“The corpses of the deceased were deposited at the morgue of the ATBUTH after which they will be released to their loved ones for burial,” he said.
He added that the obstruction was cleared to allow for free flow of traffic to motorists.
He warned motorists saying: “speed kills, so I called on drivers to avoid it. They should avoid practices that endanger human lives and properties.
“More lives and properties would be save they drive within the approved speed limits.”
