Amok Ibaas Foron cultural festival holds December 10, 2021

The ancentral maiden Amok Ibaas Foron festival which is the apex cultural festival of the Ibaas Foron community in Plateau State usually hosted by the paramount ruler, Gwom Ibaas,. Da Dr Luka Pagyang Pam JP to mark his coronation anniversary will hold on 10th December 2021.

The festival is also billed to observe special prayers to herald the coming of the rainy season which ushers in the farming and planting activities across the Gwom Ibaas chiefdom.

A statement issued and signed by the Director of Media and Publicity, Committee, Elder Dauda Reng Pam said the festival is being held sometimes shortly after the rainy season to seek for God’s blessings for a bumper harvest but in the case of the Amok Ibaas 2021 it calls for double celebrations.

According to the statement, the maiden edition of Amok Ibaas Foron cultural festival is tagged, “Amok Ibaas Foron 2021” and slated to hold on Friday and Saturday, 10th and 11th December 2021 under the distinguished Chairmanship of Hon.Yusuf Gagdi, Member representing Pankshin, Kanam, Kanke Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, National Assembly Abuja with Ngo Naomi Jugu as the Chairlady.

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour as God Almighty, “aDakunom” has been gracious and merciful to the people and community of Ibaas with amiable Governor, Rt.Hon. Lalong, who elevated the status of the traditional ruler of the Ibaas Foron to the office of a 3rd class Chief.

“This, to the Ibaas man is worthy of pomp and pageantry hence the essence of this grandiose epoch-making fiesta, deliberately coinciding with the month of coronation of Da Dr Luka Pagyang Pam JP, at about this time last year.

“This will remain indelible in the annals of history not only in Ibaas land but across the entire state and Nigeria at large as the Ibaas people owe a lot of gratitude to the Plateau State Governor for this foresight and by applying the right instrumentalities of office to grant the people the long desired and overdue autonomy placing them among the committee of ethnic nationalities in the Plateau State traditional council..

“This will no doubt, spur the ingenuity and self actualisation of the Ibaas people towards attaining self sufficiency and self reliance which they have been yearning from time immemorial”, the statement said.

Highlights of the occasion will include an intercessory prayer session, lectures, exhibition of traditional foods, arts and artefacts, hunting expedition, Miss Zene Ibaas beauty pageant as well as traditional dances and drama presentation.

Dignitaries, men and women of good will, members of the public and all sons and daughters of Ibaas land are expected to grace the occasion at Zaron, Ibaas Foron Chiefdom’s palace
