Daniel Edem Bassey, A Bamboo dealer near the Calabar River has lost property worth thousand of naira including physical cash of three hundred and fifty thousand naira as fire razed down his home at Edet Ansa street Bayside Calabar, Cross River State.

According to the landlord of the house, Archibong Antigha the fire started around 4am on Saturday morning and all efforts to call the Cross River State Fire Service prove abortive and they were left to their faith as the ravaging fire consumed the entire five room apartment.
Lamenting their ordeal, one of the victim a thirty seven years widow Effiom Asuquo who sells Akara for a living with seven children call for help as their only home has been gutted by fire, including their belongings.

She said “Oga as you see me so, my life don finished with nobody to take care of my seven children”
Another victim, Archibong Ene from Akpabuyo Local Government Area’ told our reporter that he lost all his property including cash worth forty thousand naira.

Bassey Antigha, another victim told our correspondent that she sells pure water for a living to feed her seven children. She said her children are not in school because she has no money to train them.
“My husband is sand digger, 2 of my children have finished primary school, but no money to train them in Secondary School”
Glory Effiom Bassey, twenty nine years said ” I sell pure water and minerals to feed my children now, I don’t know what to do, she lamented.
