Association of Igede Media Professionals, (AIMP) is inviting the general public to its 2nd Public Lecture holding on Thursday July 16, 2026 by 10am at Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.
A statement released to journalists in Abuja by the Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Patrick Akobo Ulaka (DMA) and the Chairman, Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, Dr Joe Agi-Ajochi said the one-day public lecture with the theme _“Rethinking Political Leadership Recruitment System in Igedeland Ahead of 2027”_ is a forum for a robust honest dialogue and exchange of ideas by patriotic sons and daughters of Igede nation towards ensuring the emergence of only credible political leaders across all strata of governance to serve Igede people.
According to the statement, the destiny of any community is greatly influenced by the kind of political leaders elected by the people or appointed to represent them in any public or political position of service delivery to the society, hence the need to brainstorm towards shaping the best outcome of next year’s general election.
“The lecture therefore is a platform for intellectual engagement by respected leaders of thoughts, policy makers, professionals, technocrats, community stakeholders, youths and women towards a merit driven leadership for sustainable development of our people.
The statement announced that the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mr Raymond Omenka Omachi will be the Chairman of the occasion, the Spokesperson, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Barr Benson Upah is the guest speaker at the event, his Excellency, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia is the distinguished guest of honour and Adirahu Ny’Igede, Chief Oga Ero, CP retired is the
Royal father of the day while the Former Economic Adviser to the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof Ode Ojowu is the father of the day.
The statement explained that the event is being organized by the Association Igede Media Professionals, an umbrella body for all Igede sons and daughters in the print, broadcast and digital media platforms across Nigeria.
The association aimed to use the power of media to drive credible leadership, accountability, inspire constructive dialogue for positive changes and development as well as preserving the rich cultural heritage of Igede nation.
