Executive Secretary of NUC, Professor Abubakar Adamu

The National Universities Commission (NUC) on Monday recognized Shehu Shagari University of Education as the 58th State University and 206th University in Nigeria.
Presenting the certificate of recognition in Abuja, to the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal , the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof. Adamu Rasheed, said the Shehu Shagari University also becomes the first university of education in northern Nigeria & 4th of it kind in the country.
Responding, the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, said the university will be entrepreneurship based and will focus on functional an effective education.
According to him, “the University will help in empowerment and human capital development of the people of Sokoto State”
He added that the University already passed recommendations of upgrade before the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Tambuwal mentioned that the state has complied with all necessary documentation
