Cracks in the All Progressives Congress (APC) have widen as coalition of 46 different groups have accused the Bauchi State Chairman of the party, Babayo Misau, of being reckless with the finances of the party.
The Coalition also accused the Chairman of always taking unilateral decisions without consulting other members of the executive attributing the mass exodus of APC members out of the party to Misau’s “bad leadership style.”
This was contained in a statement signed by Sallau Kafi, on behalf of the 46 APC support groups in Bauchi State and made available to journalists on Wednesday.
The statement partly reads: “The Chairman is taking the affairs of the party as his personal property, sidelining other executives in decision making.
“The Chairman doesn’t follow financial regulations in spending funds received monthly as contributions from major stakeholders.”
“The party Chairman of siding with aspirants before the just concluded party primaries while adopting ‘I don’t care attitude’ with the candidature of the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the state. This act, the group alleged is capable of jeopardizing the chances of the APC come 2023.
They therefore, urged the National leadership of the party; Chairman of APC stakeholders, Minister of Education and leader of the part in the state, Adamu Adamu; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, to immediately suspend the State Chairman of the party, “for failure to address the internal crisis rocking the party.”
“The mass defection of members from the party is as a result of the bad leadership style of the Chairman hence the need for him to step aside for his deputy to lead the party to victory,” they demanded.
The coalition cautioned the campaign team of Bauchi APC governorship candidate, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar, to “be careful with him for fear of betrayal as exhibited during the just concluded party primaries.”
