Breakthrough Action-Nigeria in its capacity and sustainability orientation for State Health Promotion Forum (SHPF) has promised to support in the development of specific work plan for its state social mobilization committee.
Speaking on Thursday during a meeting with SHPF, The Sokoto State Coordinator of Breakthrough Action-Nigeria, Abdulrahaman Ibrahim Zagga said the platform would be used to engage stakeholders on issues of health promotion at the state level.
Reeling out the terms of reference for the Sokoto State Health Promotion Forum, Zagga said: “It is going to be a multi sectoral technical advisory, one which will focus on strengthening collaboration on the implementation of the National Health Promotion policy.
He noted that membership of the forum were drawn from Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs), Development and Implementing Partners, Non Governmental Organizations, Professional Associations, as well as regulatory bodies.
He listed others to include – academic research and training institutions, faith based organizations, the media, telecommunication organizations, private sector, traditional institution and Civil Society Organizations working on communication activities related to health.
Mr. Zagga added that the forum will also support the development, review, implementation and widely disseminate all health promotion documents such as the 2019 health promotion policy, strategic and annual operational plans, coordinate guidelines, standard as well as create monitoring and evaluation tools, training manuals, protocol and social and behavorial change materials for the health promotion programmes
He said: “They will also help to facilitate capacity development of HPF focal persons, support health promotion interventions that will ensure active community participation and ownership for improvement of health and social wellbeing at all levels.
“Facilitate moping of donor supported projects/interventions for the decision making networking and programme planning””.
On his part, the state Health Promotion Officer, Malami Madi, said sound health in addition to quality education and security are key priorities for the State government.
Madi further noted that the state is ever ready to collaborate with developments partners on whatever aspect that will be beneficial to it’s people.
