Germany booked a place in the World Cup knockout stage for the first time since 2014 after coming from behind to beat Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 in Toronto.
The Ivorians took the lead in the 30th minute when Franck Kessie finished from close range following a brilliant run by teenage star Yan Diomande.
Germany had two first-half goals ruled out, leaving Julian Nagelsmann’s side frustrated at the break.
The Germans increased the pressure after halftime and finally found an equaliser through substitute Deniz Undav.
The VfB Stuttgart forward volleyed home from a Nadiem Amiri delivery to bring Germany back into the contest.
With the match heading for a draw, Undav struck again four minutes into stoppage time to complete the comeback.
The dramatic winner sparked wild celebrations among German players and supporters inside the packed stadium.
The victory secured Germany’s place in the last 32, while Cote d’Ivoire must beat Curacao in their final group game to keep their hopes alive.
