
Borno State Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has assured participants of Course 16, National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) of his government’s support and collaboration to carry out their security studies in the state.
Governor Zulum said his administration would partner the institute in improving the security situation in the state.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Hon..Umar Usman Kadafur, stated this on Tuesday when he received the participants at the Council Chamber of his office, Maidugiri.
He appreciated the team for their visit while describing the study as unique and an acclaimed development to the state sequel to the over a decade Boko Haram insurgency.
He also directed the State Ad hoc Committee coordinating the visit of the team to render all the necessary support, logistics and assistance the participants needs to effectively achieve their mission in the state.

The governor also pledged to provide them with relevant information on the deradcalizatiion process of the surrendered insurgents and their reintegration which he described as impressive and successful in collaboration with security agencies and NGOs in the state.
He further lamented on the porous borders , low level of literacy and religious factors as some of the root causes of the insurgency which the state government has been tackling assiduously and to improve the situation with the support of all relevant stakeholders.

On his part, The Director, Coordinator and Liaison Service of the institute, Mr E.E Oye Yeye, said the programme will be carried out in various selected states of the federation including some African countries to gather inputs for final recommendations to the Commander In Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces for subsequent implementation in December 2023.
Mr. Oye Yeye said the participants which consist of top security officers and high ranking public servants are on a tour to Borno State as part of their 10 months course in the institution leading to the award of Fellow of Security Institution (fsi).
He solicited for support and cooperation of government and people of Borno during the course of the it programme in the state.
Highlights of the visits include presentation of books and souvenirs to the governot, group photographs, among others.
