Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has launched the Ideas Gateway Portal, a digital platform aimed at enabling taxpayers, businesses and other stakeholders to submit suggestions for improving Nigeria’s tax administration.
The portal, accessible at ideasgateway.nrs.gov.ng, allows users to submit innovative proposals directly to the agency while tracking the progress of their submissions throughout the review process.
According to the NRS, the initiative is designed to promote transparency, strengthen collaboration and provide a structured avenue for public participation in ongoing tax administration reforms.
The agency said the portal’s tracking feature addresses a longstanding gap in public consultations by allowing contributors to monitor whether their recommendations are being reviewed, accepted or declined.
For businesses, the platform offers an opportunity to highlight operational challenges relating to tax registration, electronic invoicing, tax payments, filing, compliance and engagement with revenue officials.
The launch comes as the NRS continues to deepen the digital transformation of Nigeria’s tax system.
The agency recently began compliance monitoring for large taxpayers under the National E-Invoicing and Electronic Fiscal System, with affected companies expected to complete implementation by July 31, 2026.
The new portal is also expected to provide the NRS with valuable feedback from businesses as they adjust their accounting and invoicing processes to meet the new electronic invoicing requirements.
Analysts, however, note that the success of the initiative will depend largely on its implementation. They say the agency will need to ensure timely review of submissions, provide meaningful progress updates and demonstrate that credible proposals are reflected in policy and operational decisions.
Analysts also suggest that publishing clear review timelines, transparent assessment criteria and regular reports on adopted ideas would help build public confidence in the platform.
