The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Wannune, Benue State, Dr. Tyover Ashinya, has identified key challenges hindering the institution’s rapid development since its establishment in 2020.
Despite having 700 students and offering eight programs, the polytechnic faces understaffing, inadequate hostels, and essential infrastructure deficits.
Dr. Ashinya expressed the management’s desire for development but highlighted the need to address these challenges.
However, he is optimistic that the new Governing Council, chaired by Chief Michael Msuaan, will bring positive change.
The council has outlined a strategic plan to tackle the institution’s challenges and promote research, innovation, and academic excellence.
During the council’s maiden meeting, Chief Msuaan emphasized the need for growth, innovation, and excellence.
He acknowledged the institution’s strengths and challenges, stressing the importance of providing world-class education, updating the curriculum, and investing in modern teaching tools.
He also highlighted the need for research and innovation, staff development, and creating an enabling environment for growth.
With a focus on technical and vocational education, the council aims to make Federal Polytechnic Wannune a leader in Nigeria, exceeding student and community expectations.
