The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 2 Operation Fansam Yamma, Major General, Ibikunle Ajose has re-affirmed that commanders’ ability to make sound decisions remained critical to operational successes.
“The ability of commanders to make sound decisions, lead with confidence and adapt to dynamic operational environments directly impacts in ensuring mission success and operational efficiency”, Maj. Gen. Ajose said.
He spoke on Monday while delivering his welcome address during a 5-day workshop held on Monday at the 8 Division’s auditorium in Sokoto State .
Maj. Gen. Ajose, who spoke on the theme: “‘Authentic Leadership At Levels Of Command: A Pre Requisite For Enhanced Operational Effectiveness”, stressed that, investing in the development of officers and commanders sacrosanct to operational effectiveness.
While noting that, sound leadership ability and confidence in officers and commanders are in conformity with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede’s philosophy, the GOC said the the Army believed in synergy, hence, the workshop involves other security agencies in Sokoto.
“The current security bedeviling our nation and those of our area of responsibility dictates that government and society approach to tackling these challenges is what is needed.
“In a joint environment like ours, share coordination between different services and agencies is crucial, put operations no linger exist in isolation, they require collaboration across multiple domains and partners.
“As Commanders, we must be able to synchronize our efforts, share intelligence and make informed decisions in real time. This initiative is a significant step towards strengthening inter-agency cooperation and fostering a unified approach to security operations”, he said.
Continuing, the 8 Division Army GOC assured that, he has no doubt the knowledge to be gained from the workshop will be instrumental in shaping the future of their operations in problems solving and leadership skills.
The workshop was attended by Sokoto State Commissioner of Police, State FRSC Sector and the Zonal Commander, Commandant NSCDC, NDLEA, AIG, Zonal Comptroller Customs, State Comptroller Nigeria Correctional Services, amongst others.
