A former Presidential Candidate, Chief Martin Onovo, has weighed in on the 2027 presidential election, stating that no single opposition party can defeat President Bola Tinubu.
Onovo, who ran for office under the National Conscience Party (NCP) in 2015, emphasizes the need for a strong alliance among opposition parties to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a recent interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Onovo expressed confidence in the coalition being championed by former PDP Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and other like-minded leaders.

“A united minority is stronger than a divided majority,” Onovo said.
“The coalition will win the 2027 election with 99 per cent votes if it is not self-sabotaged.”
Onovo believes that if the coalition is well-managed, it will convincingly defeat the APC in 2027.
“If the coalition is not self-sabotaged, it will be difficult for APC to return in 2027,” he asserted.
On the current administration’s performance, Onovo noted that not much has been achieved in security and provision of basic needs.
He urged President Tinubu to prioritize these areas in the remaining years of his first term.
Onovo advised President Tinubu to surround himself with technocrats and competent individuals to fulfill campaign promises.
“We need competent people in positions, not loyalists,” he stressed.
“Let us get the right people, right strategies, and ethical environment, while the President provides leadership and takes responsibility.”
Onovo also called for more vigorous efforts to combat corruption and reduce inequality, which he believes fuels insecurity and social tensions.
