Enugu State Police Command has denied reports of organ harvesting in connection with the murder of a woman in a hotel in Nsukka.
According to the police, preliminary investigations reveal that the woman’s body was found intact, with no indication of mutilation or organ harvesting.
The police spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, stated that evidence suggests the woman may have been strangled, as her body was discovered with bloodstains around her mouth and a swollen neck.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the remains of the deceased were found intact, without any indication of mutilation or organ harvesting, as widely speculated,” Ndukwe said.
The police are working to identify and apprehend the suspect, who checked into the hotel with the victim and fled after discovering her lifeless body.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mamman Giwa, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to intensify efforts to trace and arrest the suspect and ensure justice is served.
The commissioner has also warned individuals and the media against spreading unfounded and sensational narratives that could mislead the public and undermine ongoing investigations.
“These unfounded and sensational narratives only serve to mislead the public and undermine ongoing investigations,” Ndukwe stated.
