
Federal Fire Service new Controller-General, Adeyemi Olumode

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Adeyemi Olumode as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS).
The announcement was made by retired Maj.-Gen. Abdulmalik Jubril, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), on behalf of the Federal Government.
The appointment follows the upcoming retirement of the current Controller-General, Abdulganiyu Jaji, who will be leaving office on August 13, 2025, after reaching the age of 60. Jaji’s dedication and commitment to service have been appreciated by the board.
Qualifications of the new appointee
Olumode Adeyemi is well-qualified for the position, having attended and passed all mandatory in-service trainings, command courses, and other courses both within and outside Nigeria. He brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having transferred from the FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service and rising to the rank of Deputy Controller-General in the Human Resource Directorate.
Adeyemi is a member or fellow of several professional associations, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria. His extensive background and expertise make him an ideal candidate for the position.
As a seasoned professional, Adeyemi has served in various capacities, demonstrating his versatility and capabilities. His experience in the FCT Fire Service and Federal Fire Service has equipped him with the necessary skills to lead the agency effectively.
The appointment of Olumode Adeyemi takes effect from August 14, 2025, marking a new chapter in the leadership of the Federal Fire Service. The board has expressed gratitude to the outgoing Controller-General, Abdulganiyu Jaji, for his remarkable contributions to the development of the agency.
