President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of the Pro-Chancellor, governing council, and principal officers for the Federal University of Environment and Technology, Koroma/Saakpenwa, in Ogoni, Rivers State.
This is contained in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga,
According to the statement, Prof. Don Mon Baridam from the South-South region was named Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, with Prof. Chinedu Mmom, also from the South-South, appointed as Vice-Chancellor.
Baridam, a seasoned academic specializing in Organizational Behavior, previously lectured at the University of Port Harcourt. Mmom, a professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the same university, also served as Rivers State Commissioner for Education.
The governing council includes a diverse group of members: Emmanuel Onoja (North Central), Hamid Adekunle (South West), Prof. Chima Oji (South East), and Alhaji Abdullahi Lamda (North West). The university’s principal officers include Dr. Mpigi Douglas (South-South) as Registrar, Zoryii Nwaimanie (North Central) as Bursar, and Dr. Saghanen Ntogo (South-South) as Librarian.
“President Tinubu has carefully selected a team of distinguished professionals to steer the university toward excellence,” Onanuga stated.
The institution is set to welcome its inaugural students in September, following the signing of its establishment bill into law by President Tinubu on February 3.
