Anambra South Senator-elect, Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu
Newly elected Senator for Anambra South under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu, has vowed to carry forward the legacy of the late Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Nwachukwu also promised to deliver exceptional representation to his constituents.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Prof. Frank Orjiako, the Returning Officer at INEC’s Nnewi office, declared Nwachukwu the winner of the Anambra South senatorial by-election, securing 90,408 votes.
He defeated his closest competitor, Chief Azuka Okwuosa of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 19,847 votes.
The by-election, held on August 16, 2025, was necessitated by the passing of Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah in July 2024, with 12 political parties participating.
Expressing gratitude, Nwachukwu said, “I deeply appreciate Gov. Chukwuma Soludo and the APGA family for their support, which made this victory possible.”
He also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for overseeing a transparent and credible by-election in Anambra South.
Looking ahead, Nwachukwu stated, “APGA’s next priority is the November 8 governorship election, and I am confident that Gov. Soludo faces no real competition.” (NAN)
