
Ammunition recovered from the suspect in Anambra

Anambra State Police Command has arrested 65-year-old Akpan Godwin for allegedly possessing 1,100 rounds of live ammunition in Nkpor, Onitsha.
According to a statement issued on Saturday in Awka by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives from the Rapid Response Squad, Akwuzu, acted on credible intelligence to arrest the suspect on Friday.
“The suspect was found in possession of 1,100 rounds of live ammunition,” Ikenga stated.
During questioning, Godwin reportedly admitted to engaging in the illegal sale of ammunition and implicated others involved in the illicit trade.
Ikenga emphasized the command’s commitment to justice, noting, “Operatives have intensified the investigation and launched a manhunt for the suspect’s fleeing accomplices.”
The police assured the public that updates on the case would be provided as the investigation progresses.
